Bright Lights and Bling

The love affair between fashion and music seems to be as old as time. Since the rise of the music video in the early eighties, artists have to look as good as they sound – if not better! Lady Gaga dances about her designer couture and Jay Z raps with a rock or two on his fingers! They know their songs have substance but it’s their style that makes them stand out from the crowd.

As more artists from Britain are hitting the airwave, Jessie J, Adele and Tinie Tempah all have their distinctive looks which further expresses their creative talents. In his latest video Tinchy Stryder adds some sparkle with the accessory of choice - Tresor Paris! Pixie Lott shines in this video with her vocal but the bracelets and necklace Tinchy Stryder wears give him the edge!

Future Fashion at your fingertips!

Yesterday the London Styling team went along to the Future Fashion event at Westfield London and was truly amazed to see how digital media has transformed our fabulous world of fashion. We spent ages playing with the huge 103'' interactive 'Styling Cubes' plasma touch screens. We were in our absolute elements creating personalised 'mood boards' with our own choice of outfits, accessoires and colour trends. The great thing about the Styling Cubes was that once you created a board including your own choice of key fashion trends for the season, it then emails you the entire board which even includes a wish list of each item chosen and where to buy them.

London Styling loved this concept and found it very inspiring, as it allows you to create your own trend boards for the season giving you good ideas for outfits by mix and matching different accessories. We were so impressed with how sensitive the interactive screens were, it let you to drag and drop the items and delete as you wish. Making choosing outfits so easy!

Aside from the amazing and innovative interactive style cubes which we found ourselves having to be dragged away from in order to let other people have a go! There was also a Style Lounge where a team from Grazia were on hand to give fashion advice on key styles and trends for S/S 2012.
This fashion session was really interesting, the girls from Grazia were great and opened our eyes up to an array contrasting patterns and colours perfect for the season.

After having a lovely free manicure as compliments of Future Fashion and sipping on a delicious lemon mocktail, we enjoyed a 3D catwalk screening giving audiences the chance to experience a catwalk like never before. London Styling believe this really is the fashion of our future.

If you didn’t get a chance to make it to Westfield London the  Future Fashion event will be moving to Stratford Westfield 4th- 9th April so there’s still time to get yourself down there and be part of the amazing future of fashion experience, and also a chance to nab yourself a free manicure and mocktail!

Office Stylings - Brouge Trader!

At Tresor Paris HQ we like to accessorise well - be it with our fabulous crystal jewellery or other fashion forward items! We will be bringing you the accessorises and key pieces that have caught London Stylings eye at our busy and colourful work place!

Here are Leto's beautiful brouges - her office style is calling for the summer and spring months! The laid back tan tones of these classic brouges makes them way more fun than brutal black. We think the have a Great Gatsby 1920's style about them. Teaming them up with trousers or loose cotton suit will be a great way to take on the summer suit trend. Can't wait until Leto can be stepping out in a sun soaked Hyde Park - those brouges need to be seen and we need a tan! More Office Stylings sightings soon!

Pretty in Pastels

Say goodbye to the bright jewel tones which we saw dominate last seasons collections, this summer pastel shades are big news. Think ice-cream colours, sugar, spice and all things nice. Here at London Stylings we are going crazy for a palette of pinks, mint greens, lemon yellows and lilac.

The spring summer 12 catwalk collections were full of soft tones perfect for the summer days approaching and we saw the pastel trend dominate the likes of Prada, Preen, House of Holland, Chanel and Jenny Packman.

Louis Vuitton took their extravagant show to a whole new level and models were seen perched on an enormous mirrored carousel.  The collection had a slight 60s influence and showcased a number of floaty pieces including rounded skirts and cute collars. The show was designed by Marc Jacobs and was reported to cost a hefty $1 million to produce; even our favourite London fashionista Kate Moss made an appearance on the catwalk.

British based fashion label Mulberry have also taken to the pastel trend for their spring summer ad campaign which was shot on Brighton beach by top fashion photographer Tim Walker. We love the sugary sweet summer feel and ice cream props.

If you want to achieve the look for a fraction of the price then look no further than your local Topshop which is full of pretty pieces to suit every shape and size. If you are feeling brave then why not rock the look head toe with these cute peach shorts, mint sleeveless blouse and pale blue satin pumps.

To glam up the outfit add some sparkle with these crystal bracelets from Tresor Paris.  Why not try the lilac ‘Le Mans’ cord bracelet layered up with the ‘Arles’ light blue and ‘Deauville’ crystal and magnetite style. The Magnetite in the bracelet is believed to aid recovery and be good for skin – what’s not to love?

Front Row at Corrie Nielsen Catwalk Show - Accessorized by Tresor Paris

London Stylings fabulous Front Row good bags - yes more than one!

5 Vence bracelets from Tresor Paris' Cygnus collection

  • Scottish heritage with modern impact

Designer Corrie Nielsen

One of the first shows on the LFW must-see list –  Corrie Nielsen. The jewellery for Neilsen’s AW12 show - none other than Tresor Paris’ Cygnus and new Saturne collection. We loved the Scottish heritage inspired collection - dramatic and sculptural, the use of red tartan punctured the monochrome pieces that concentrated solely on form. The hints of vivid red Tresor Paris crystals, steely magnetite and soft pearl enhanced the ‘Vestiarium Scoticum’ collection by acting as concentrated representations of the different materials, shapes and colours it combined. We were very pleased with our front row goody bag – we received a fabulous deep blue ‘Sete’ bracelet and a lovely raspberry and dark choc Jubilee chocolate bar. It’s all about fashion but sometimes it’s about the food too!

London Fashion Week Stylings

Yesterday Somerset House open its doors filling its courtyard with platform shoes, capes and maxi dresses! Finally the date in every London Fashion Lovers diary had arrived - London Fashion Week AW12 was about to begin! Before London Stylings enjoyed the fashion on the catwalk we couldn’t help but delight in the LFW crowd.

Back in Black: That's the thing about black, it's classic. It's simple and effective and very very stylish. Keeping to this one non-colour colour gives you the opportunity to play with texture and shape. We love the sculptural panels and fur of this statement making top. The velvet platforms elongate the body and pick up where the vertical pleats left off.

Fashion on the Go: We has some eccentric dress sense on show at LFW but we love the simplicity and laid back attitude of this layered look. A flash of warm orange, with pattern trim adds interest to the muted winter layers. The brown coat is tailored to perfection.

Venus in Furs: Ok so this lovely lady isn't a LFW guest but a model on the run! Her stature, sky high heels and motion all work together to show this piece at it's best. We love the soft lilac colour as well as soft look of this dress, created by the length of the fur.

Dressed From Top to Toe: More on trend pastel colours for S/S12 and this perfect pair reminds us of Care Bears and candy! Fashion is a very serious business but we love the humour and inventiveness it encourages! Expression through fashion makes the world a more interesting place. Roll on the rest of London Fashion Week!

London Style Icon – Imogen Poots

Mad about Marni - Old Street, London
The upcoming Marni at H&M campaign - they're potty about Poots!

Be they London based, London born or plain London inspired - there are some Londoners that make the London Stylings team nod their tilted heads and give few hand claps of approval, for we like their style. We will blog about the London style icons that add to the global kudos our fashion savvy city receives. Looking to the past present and future, we’ll bring you the people who know how to make a bin bag look good but, thankfully, favour clothes instead.

This week we start with newbie Imogen Poots. The 22 year old  London born actress seems to know that her career and fashion have been betrothed since time began and so from the screen she slides onto the pages of the glossies as the face of H&M’s Marni campaign.
H&M and Italian label Marni collaborate to bring us highstreet shoppers the best of this label and the best prices imaginable. Imogen’s laid back look makes these luxurious clothes look as comfortable as the leopard print cushions she rests upon. The prints are luxurious and begging to be worn! Designer Consuelo Castiglioni tells us what to expect: “As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements.” We like the sound of that and the pretty face of the Jane Eyre actress too. We’re not the only ones, in 2011 Poots was the fresh face of ChloĆ© perfume.

The blonde beauty is fast becoming the darling of the designers and we can’t wait to see what she will wear this year be it on a billboard, red carpet or streets of London town!
