Hello again and a very Happy New Year. Hope everyone enjoyed his or her Christmas break. If you didn't get your required fashion fix over the festive period, fear not, London Stylings is back to take a look at the key trends for 2012.
There have bee so many reports on this trend and that trend, but there are only a few that we feel are really wearable and worthy of the title ‘2012 Staple’.
A lot of the trends for the coming year have been inspired by the party season with all of the glitz and glam that it brings. Take the Metallic trend for example; we’re not talking sequins or embellishment here – none of that shiny-shiny-look-at-me magpie metallic but rather a bit of class. The metallic trend is flattering and providing you wear it in the right way, understated… Diane Von Furstenberg and Jenny Packham both did it, with our favourite look coming from Reed Krakoff…

If however, you are not prone to all that shimmers, you can find similar colours within the Softly Softly trend. Official name this is not, but we thought it rather fitting. This look is all about making the most out of the natural female figure with delicate materials in equally delicate shades. Think mink, nude and peach for this trend. It will take you right through to the height of summer and you’ll become so attached, you might never let go…

Before we get ahead of ourselves and talk about our last, and arguably most important, trend – the summer look with fruity prints and pastels, there is one look we hope you will find practical yet exciting. This is Tux Luxe. Tux Luxe incorporates the best of city chic with 2011’s must-have, the androgyny tux. 2012 will see the tux take a softer shape and influence other key looks, such as pencil skirts with sheer blouses and strappy heels. The 2012 Tux Lux look is great as it is so versatile – whether you opt for navy or simple white, this look is guaranteed to stay on-trend for the whole of 2012 and can be altered for all seasons. Opt for peg leg trousers right now, but come June, transfer to a short suit teamed with a loose fitted blouse.

Fruit Pastel! Finally, the most exciting trend for London Stylings, perhaps as it’s the only think that’s keeping us going until the British weather decides to warm up. We saw it last year with acid brights but for 2012, the fruit print is toning it down and keeping to pastel shades. Lemon prints, oranges and florals will make an appearance. We will be keeping in simple with printed accessories alongside pastel t-shirt dresses. This Stella McCartney tote gets the seal of approval…
