The British Fashion Awards 2011

Last night at The Savoy Hotel the best of fashion this side of the pond was celebrated at The British Fashion Awards 2011. Winners included a delighted Victoria Beckham, who won ‘Best Brand’. Her collections have been well received by the media and achieved high sales. This success, acknowledged on her home ground, saw the reserved Victoria was overcome with emotion when receiving her award. Sarah Burton won ‘Best Designer of the Year’ for Alexander McQueen. Her wedding dress for Catherine Middleton aka The Duchess of Cambridge is probably the most seen dress of 2011!

Georgia May Jagger rocks!
The newbies of the industry also had their chance to shine. Mary Katrantzou won the award for ‘Emerging Talent – Womenswear’. She began studying Architecture at Rhode Island before transferring to London’s Central St. Martins to study textile design. Her architectural background is evident in the structural nature of her striking bold print dresses. A new award for ‘Emerging Talent - Menswear’ went Christopher Raeburn for his ethical designs.

Poppy -poised and patterned.
As for the best dressed in attendance that evening, I’ve chosen another silver number. This time Georgia May Jagger channelled the twenties flapper in her a silver embellished and tasselled shift dress. Poppy Delivingne was making a statement but not shouting you down. She wore an embroidered Matthew Williamson maxi, great texture and pattern on a beige background.
